Stress is also caused by work!
Occupational stress is a risk factor for myocardial infarction, but ranges from this point of view, after smoking and obesity, according passionsante.be.
Several previous studies have dealt with the relationship between job stress and coronary accidents. All concluded that a link exists, but differ from one another extent of the risk. A team of British scientists from University College London has reviewed about 15 studies on the subject in Europe, then synthesizing the results.
The data considered were related, in total, about 200,000 people (equal number of women and men) who completed questionnaires specific professional environment, position held and exposure to work-related stress. Coronary home accidents were analyzed in terms of working conditions. 'There is a link between occupational stress and risk of a coronary event, "said Robert Hayat. The risk increases by 23% if work is carried out with stress. Dr Hayat however noted that "the risk is lower than that related to smoking, abdominal obesity or sedentary 'classical cardiovascular risk factors. In other words, 'any preventive measure to combat work-related stress is welcome', without neglecting concern for conventional risk factors.
