Adult teeth are numbered as follows: No. 1 applies to the most distant tooth on the right side of the mandible (right patient and dentist left). The numbers continue along the jaw, covering the front teeth and get to the last tooth on the upper left. Afterwards, counting bottom row starting with the farthest tooth on the left side of the jaw. As with the upper teeth, counting down to the last tooth on the bottom right of the jaw. If you do not have wisdom teeth, tooth numbering starts with 2 instead of 1.
