Hay Fever - pollinosis

Hay Fever - pollinosis

* Introduction

* Treatment
Pollinosis term (popular "hay fever") means the pollen, which occurs especially with runny. Pollinosis can occur at different times of the year intervals depending on the specific pollination. Typical symptoms are: nivl ocular itching, tearing, conjunctivitis, runny nose and sneezing. Allergic rhinitis can lead to bronchial asthma and allergic etiology. People allergic to pollen still complain of concentration problems and insomnia.

Pollinosis sufferers can develop, over time, allergic reactions to certain foods. Such cross-reaction occurs because of molecular asemenarilor pollen and certain proteins in food, the whole body responds by an allergic reaction. Typical example is known allergy to birch pollen allergy who subsequently developed from peanuts.

As with other allergies, pollinosis first step is the therapeutic factors to avoid contact with allergens, in this case triggers the plants and their pollen. To relieve acute symptoms of pollinosis there are many medicines. The only treatment is the etiologic hiposensibilizarea pollinosis.

Definition

Pollinosis is an allergy to pollen of various plants. Pollen is spread and causes the air in contact with nasal or ocular mucosa, an immediate allergic reaction (Type 1). Symptoms usually occurs during periods of seasonal rain and crashes.

Etiology

Pollinosis can be triggered by pollen of different types of plants such as grasses (rye), grasses, trees (birch, oak), shrubs (hazel) and herbs (wormwood black). Depending on the periods of pollination of these plants, pollinosis may occur several times a year.

Pollinosis usually linked with a cross-reaction to foods containing protein whose molecular structure is similar to pollen allergen. It often happens that people allergic to birch pollen, for example, react allergic to peanuts.

Clinical

Typical symptoms of pollinosis are watery, burning at the tear, sneezing, runny nose, stuffy nose, cough, throat irritation, allergic skin reactions (swelling and redness). Can also occur with sleep and concentration problems. Severe cases are associated with shortness of breath and can cause allergic asthma etiology. The risk to people allergic to pollen are sick of asthma is three times higher than those of non-allergic.

In parallel with specific allergic reactions, pollinosis and hypersensitivity can cause nasal from non-specific irritants such as cigarette smoke, dust, odorous substances, termperatura changes, manifested by sneezing.

Diagnosis

Pollinosis diagnosis is made according to time and place simtomatologiei triggering allergic. Probability diagnosis of pollinosis increase greatly if symptoms appear during certain periods of pollination.

To identify the specific allergen allergic pollinosis test is performed (Pricktest), which consists of a standardized extract of pollen dripping on the arm or back, after which the skin is stimulated with a needle just below the drop. In those places where ueni pollinosis is red and slightly swollen after 15-20 minutes.

This test can be confirmed with a blood tests for antibodies against each allergen. In special cases can be a challenge test by entering the respective allergens in the nasal cavity. Because the risk of severe allergic reactions is increased, it is recommended that this test be done only if the beneficial patient can then at least a half-hour surveillance.
