Myelopathy associated with human virus type I limfotrop for T cell (HTLV I) is typically chest.

Clinical onset is usually insidious and manifested by a slowly progressive spastic paraparesis, accompanied by sensitivity problems are and disorders of the urinary bladder sphincter. The degree of progression is variable. The upper limb neurological examination reveals exaggerated tendon reflexes. Approximately 50% of patients present with pain in the spine or limbs.
Clinical signs may be asymmetric.

Diagnosis
Is determined by ELISA - Anti HTLV I-specific antibodies in serum. Diagnosis is confirmed by Western-blot reaction or by radioimmunoprecipitation.

Treatment
Treatment is symptomatic. Treat symptomatic bladder spasticity and sphincter disorders. There is no specific treatment.
