Traumatic brain injuries

Traumatic brain injuries

Traumatic brain injuries are caused by a sudden and violent blows to the head level. Such a blow can cause the brain to hit the inside of your skull. It can withstand an impact without fracture. When the brain suffers injury but remains intact skull talk about closed head trauma.

A head trauma occurs when the projectile (a bullet, a stone or a piece of skull fracture) enters the brain. This type of injury is seen more often than closed craniocerebral trauma.

Cranio-cerebral trauma severity varies considerably, depending on location and size of the affected region. A mild injury causes temporary confusion and headache, while a powerful trauma can be fatal. However, even a slight injury can cause long-term complications.
