Imaging Studies:
Radiography is the standard in the evaluation of scoliosis. It is used to confirm clinical diagnosis, to rule out other causes:segmentation faults to assess the severity of the curves, monitoringprogression, skeletal maturity assessment of the case and the indication for surgery. Ajotor study is to evaluate and postoperativecomplications. Radiography is more sensitive than CT and MRIpitin as tumors or spinal infections are apparent only if 50% of the bone is destroyed. Radiograph is limited by the dosage used.Does risk of carcinogenesis.
Tomography scan with sagittal and coronal reconstruction All information without radiography. 3D reconstruction is useful toevaluate the segmentation faults. MRI can be used to assess thetrue rotation and deformation ribs.
Lung function testing.
The differential diagnosis is made with the following conditions:neuromuscular disease, neurofibromatosis, congenital heart disease, scoliosis in the elderly.
