Viral Arthritis - Arthritis with retroviruses

Human immunodeficiency virus-HIV:HIV infection is associated with several rheumatic manifestations, the most common being arthralgia. Other events include psoriatic arthritis, painful articular syndrome, undifferentiated spondyloarthropathies, inflammatory myopathy, systemic vasculitis, diffuse infiltrative lymphocytosis syndrome, fibromyalgia, gout and avascular necrosis. Infections may include septic arthritis, osteomyelitis or piomiozita.Arthritis in association with HIV infection can occur at any stage of the disease. The arthritis is similar to other viral infections, acute onset, short duration, recurrent and without erosive changes.Patients at increased risk of septic arthritis.Diffuse infiltrative lymphocytosis syndrome resembling Sjogren's syndrome with sicca symptoms, salivary gland enlargement and lymphocytic infiltration of the lungs, gastrointestinal tract and kidneys.Reactive arthritis in association with HIV infection appears to 3% of cases. Severe erosive arthritis is possible and can be debilitating. Psoriatic arthritis tends to occur late in evolution and infection is severe.
Virus infection human T-HTLV-1 limfotropic:It is a type C retrovirus Oncovirinae family, infects millions of people worldwide, especially in Africa, Asia. It is transmitted through breast feeding, sexual intercourse, blood products.Infection is associated with Sjogren's syndrome and leukemia, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma associated with hypercalcemia and skin damage, chronic inflammatory syndromes oligoartrita seronegative polyarthritis with tenosynovitis and nodules with fibrinoid necrosis, uveitis, dermatitis, transverse myelitis. The risk is 2-5%.
Other viral infections:-Epstein-Barr virus infection is associated with poliartralgia, but also with Baker cyst and torn knee monoarthritis-Varicella-zoster infection in children rarely develop arthritis pauciarticularaAdenovirusuri or coxsackievirusuri-infection is associated with recurrent episodes of arthritis, pleuritis, myalgia, rash, pharyngitis, myocarditis and leukocytosisEchovirusuri-infection is associated with arthritis, fever and myalgia, Cytomegalovirus and herpes simplex infection is rare.
