Leiomyoma is the most common benign esophageal neoplasm. It is typically encountered in men after age 40. Over 50% of patients are asymptomatic tumors being found at autopsy or radiology.
In patients symptomatic dysphagia and pain are typical symptoms vague. They can be present with a duration of 2 years before diagnosis.

Leiomioamelor Most are found in the lower third of the esophagus, and 97% are intramural.
Approximately two thirds of benign esophageal tumors are leiomioame the following in order of frequency are polyps and cysts.

Radiography barytic highlight a well-defined filling defect with adjacent plies unchanged. Endoscopy positive diagnosis.
The differential diagnosis is with malignant esophageal tumors and compression caused by tumors in the esophagus extraesofagiene.

Esophageal tumors can cause the following complications: compression of the trachea, with cough, dyspnea and cyanosis, esophageal stenosis, upper gastrointestinal ulceration and bleeding.
Treatment consists of surgical excision of the tumor.
