Politraumatisme prognosis depends on several factors: patientage, patient diagnosis and correct transport, hospitalization in aspecialized medical service, with specialized medical teams, pre-existing state of trauma, brain and other organs.
Prognosis in cranio-cerebral trauma score value depends very much on Glasgow (Glasgow score details see the article "Coma").
Patients with Glasgow score of 5 and less than 5 had a poor prognosis, unfortunately, most die or remain in a vegetative state.
Patients with score of 3-4 generally die during the first 24 hours after injury. An ominous prognosis is given and increased intracranial pressure, signs of compression of the cisterns andmidline shift on CT scan.
6-7 score indicates a better prognosis, patients recover in asustained treatment, the possible sequels.
A score of 8 or above indicates a good prognosis, favorablepatients fully recover, most without sequelae.
The prognosis also depends on patient age: younger patientsunder 20 years old and children recover quickly and have been reported, it is true rare in children with Glasgow scores under 5have recovered almost entirely, under a sustained treatment.Prognostic value in a cranio-cerebral trauma somatosensory evoked potentials are sensitive, bilateral absence of corticalpotentials give a bad prognosis, the patient remained in a vegetative state or passing away.
