Radiographs are useful in distinguishing cervical deformities ofscoliosis and spondylosis secondary dystonia by chronic structuralchanges of the spine that may mimic torticollis.
Cervical spinal cord magnetic resonance is useful to emphasizeincarceration syndrome with multiple spinal stenosis orradiculopathy, which may be secondary bone changes in chronictorticollis.
Barytic esophageal transit may be performed to evaluate and treatpatients for swallowing disorders.
The differential diagnosis is made with the following conditions:cerebral palsy, Horn disease, essential tremor, multiple sclerosis,myasthenia gravis, Parkinson's disease, radiculopathy, tardive dyskinesia.
