Pharyngitis
Signs and symptoms
Acute Pharyngitis:
- pain on swallowing (swallowing)
- sensation of dryness of the pharyngeal mucosa
- throat irritation
- foreign body sensation, with pruritus (itching) and burning
- bouts of coughing
- malaise, more or less intense
- fever - common in children
Chronic Pharyngitis:
Chronic catarrhal pharyngitis - is manifested by paresthesia throat, fever, cough accompanied by a sensation of dryness or foreign body in the pharynx, but in particular, pain in swallowing.
Chronic hypertrophic pharyngitis - the posterior wall of pharynx mucosa is hypertrophic, granular, and mucous hypersecretion shows a venous dilatations. Among others, the patient often suffers from nausea and vomiting and frequent swallowing movements shows.
Chronic atrophic pharyngitis - posterior pharyngeal wall is dry, often presenting thick crusts. Pharyngeal mucosa looks pale, smooth and transparent. Frequency is associated with atrophic rhinitis and / or laryngitis, the feeling of respiratory discomfort and sleepless night. These signs are related to climate (marine climate is good, unlike the dry and warm air) and is frequently found in the elderly.
