Acute Laryngitis
Acute laryngitis in adults manifested by dysphonia (hoarseness),which may progress to aphonia (loss of voice), in some casesassociated with dyspnea (difficulty breathing). Patients experience painful neck and constantly feel the urge to cough.
When other symptoms accompany larinigita - fever, generalizedpain - the cause is often viral or bacterial origin.
Another symptom is the swelling of the larynx, allergic orinflammatory nature, or rarely, the consequence of renal failure.
In children, acute laryngitis is characterized by a dry cough, alteration or even loss of voice (aphonia), then episodes ofincreasingly intense dyspnea (difficulty breathing). Dyspnea maydevelop in stridor (wheezing), sometimes accompanied bycyanosis - blue coloration of the skin, which translates to pooroxygenation of the blood. It noted an increase in temperature inmany cases.
In one patient in two, the disease heals spontaneously within 2-4days. Rarely, there are serious forms, which requirehospitalization.
Chronic laryngitis is manifested by these signs:
- sore throat, often less intense
- modification or loss of voice
- cough
- sputum
- sensation of dryness in the throat
