Certain categories of people - those who suffer from allergies,psoriasis, eczema or seborrheic dermatitis - are likely to generate the external otitis.
Otitis externa can be caused by an allergy, bacterial infection, viralor skin (pimple), for an injury, eczema or water that stays in the ear canal. The incidence of this type of otitis media is equal in children and adults.
Otitis externa is an infection of the external ear canal caused byStaphylococcus (Gram positive bacteria). Infection with a fungus(yeast infection) is possible but occurs less frequently.
Otitis can be a result of external trauma, such as excessive oraggressive cleaning of the ear canal.
Other causes of external otitis: a dermatitis (eczema become infected), or swimming in water containing a chlorine derivatives.People who use hearing aids or ear plugs are more likely to develop external otitis, especially in terms of inadequate cleaningof such devices.
Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterium responsible for infection ofother ear canal, resulting in the formation of a pimple. Diabeticsand subjects with allergies are prone to otitis externa.
