Cortical basal degeneration is a rare disease, of unknown cause, rarely genetically determined. Produces a slowly progressive dementia, with severe gliosis and neuron loss in the basal ganglia and neocortex.



Symptoms typically begins in middle age or late, affecting one or more functional states.



While producing an asymmetric akinesia, rigidity, apraxia and dyskinesia in one of the upper limbs. Performing and to State and to the other one bucofaciala apraxia, intentional tremor, mild dementia and sensory inattention.



As treatment, antiparkinsonian medication has proven to be ineffective. But you can try a treatment with selegiline and amantadine completed after a while low doses of levodopa.
