Pharyngitis - Charts

Most cases of pharyngitis resolve spontaneously in 10days. In cases caused by streptococcal pharyngitis,treated with penicillin, alleviate symptoms within 24 hours after treatment is instituted. Contagious and the febrileperiod is reduced to one day.

If therapy with erythromycin, mitigating the symptoms can be seen within 72 hours. The incidence of resistance toerythromycin is more than 25%. Therefore, patients ontreatment with erythromycin should be carefully monitoredto track the effectiveness of treatment.

Treatment failure, relatively frequent indications of causes of failure, resistance to antibiotics, a new display, or flora,host immune suppression required.
