Epilepsy - Treatment

Most children with epilepsy treated with AEDs. They do not cure the disease but avoid the recurrence of crises. Once you discover the right medicine or combination of drugs, many patients resolve crises.

Another treatment option for children whose seizures are not controlled with medicationis cetogenica-diet high in fat and low in carbohydrates. Child response to this diet willbe closely monitored so by your doctor and nutritionist.

Sometimes the child's seizures are caused by certain agents triggers: stress, restlessness, boredom or lack of sleep. Parents can keep a record of crisis to see ifcertain factors are repeated, in which case we recommend avoiding them if possible.
