Colic and maternal nutrition

Rarely, infants may have colic breastfeeding foods due to the mother's diet. Dairy products are one of the main charge. Breast-feeding mothers can try to avoid milk, cheese and yogurt for a week to see if there is an improvement. If this measure isbeneficial results, dairy consumption is still low.

Some infants seem to have symptoms into account that mothers eat spicy foods, nuts, strawberries, cruciferous vegetables (cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.), garlic, caffeine and alcohol. To check if one of these foods have a bad effect on the infant, onesolution is to avoid all food for a week. If your baby feels better, reintroduce one food at a time, leaving an interval of several days between two different foods. Thus, one canidentify the food responsible for the occurrence of colic.

Maternal diet foods that cause colic will be avoided until your baby loses sensitivity, usually at age 3 months.
If the baby is fed artificial, it can try another formula.
Both children fed and artificially fed ones, have helped to spit up during and at the end of lactation. This will decrease the pressure created by swallowing air during feeding.
