Colic

Colic is not a disease but is a term used to describe unexplained crying in infantswithout health problems.
If your baby is less than 5 months and cry at least 3 hours per day continuously for 3days a week, in an interval of at least 3 months, and there is no medical explanation forthis behavior, then we talk about colic.

Cries may occur at any time of day, but usually are most intense between 18 am andmidnight.

About 20% of children had colic, usually after 2-4 weeks after birth. Fortunately, colicdoes not last forever. 60% of infants with colic will pass over this period until the age of 3 months and 90% progress is visible at the age of four months. If after this age baby cries excessively, the cause may be a health problem.

These signs can not be attributed to colic and require medical attention:

"Presence of blood or mucus in the stool
"Repeated vomiting
»Weight loss
"Sucking reflex decrease

Infants with colic have a strong sucking reflex and a normal appetite, are thought to behealthy and have normal growth.
