Labyrinthitis - Prevention measures

Preventing labyrinthitis consists primarily in the prompt treatment ofrespiratory tract infection or any ear.
In addition, it should avoid the following risk factors:
  - alcohol abuse
  - smoking
  - overwork, which causes fatigue and stress

Other measures to avoid worsening of symptoms and preventionof complications:

  - within 2 -3 days: full bed rest and avoidance of headmovements, to the extent possible
  - in the first 2 to 3 nights: it sleeps with the head elevated 45 °from the rest of the body (either by putting several pillows under your head, or by sleeping on an adjustable chair)
  - after this initial period, we recommend gradual resumption ofnormal activities, as the brain corrects loss of balance. Thisprocess is called compensation and consists in ignoring falsemotion signals received by the brain. However, it is recommendedto avoid sudden head movements or body.
Although prolonged fasting prevents attacks of vertigo, it alsodelays the clearing process.
  - the temporary acvitati involves a certain degree of risk: drivingcars, climb stairs, operate some heavy machinery. Theserecommendations are valid one week after symptoms disappear. These activities will be resumed gradually.
  - As soon as there is a feeling of dizziness, the patient must sit.
  - use a stick for better stability
  - avoid direct gaze toward a light source
  - Quitting smoking
  - Avoid alcohol and caffeinated beverages because they canworsen symptoms
