Congenital nevi are present at birth or soon after. Melanin pigment on the surface is apparent. The delay in the appearance of surface pigmentation may occur up to a month or two years in late-type rare. Congenital nevi occur in all races but is higher than the frequency in some populations such as blacks who are at low risk of developing melanoma than Whites.
Congenital hairy nevi location and size is variable. Small lesions occur more often than larger ones. Only 5% of lesions are multiple. Hair develops on their surface to over 50% of nevi and can occur during the first 1-2 years of life.

Physical examination.

Diameter:
-small <1. 5 cm
Average-1. 5-20 cm
-large> 20 cm.

Edges:
-cut
-regular
-irregular
-mixed with the surrounding skin.

Area:
-textured
-with or without hair.

Shape:
-round, oval.
Color:
-brown
dark-brown
-faded.

Location-anywhere.
Cast:
-single lesion
-multiple lesions <5%.
May be associated with neurofibromatosis or melanocitoza leptomeningeala.
