Causes and Risk Factors

Labyrinthitis origin is not fully known, but known triggers:
  - Viral infection
  - bacterial infection
  - cholesteatoma
  - Allergies
  - autoimmune diseases
  - excessive alcohol consumption (alcohol affects balance)
  - drug intoxication (especially with aminoglycosides and aspirin) - they have a toxic action on inner ear and cause vertigo
  - head trauma
  - brain tumor
  - stroke


Risk Factors

  - recent respiratory infection or ear (otitis media)
  - fatigue and stress
  - Allergies
  - smoking
  - ingestion of drugs in high doses
  - alcohol abuse
  - head trauma
