Treatment

Treatment in case of laryngitis caused by overwork voice consists of voice rest and steam baths, which allow to reduce pain and inflammation. This requires the establishment of a bacterial infection, antibiotic therapy. However, in most cases are of viral infections and do not require antibiotics.

In cases of irritation caused by gastric acid reflux or an allergy, treatment of these diseases will allow a rapid reduction of symptoms. When bronchitis or another bacterial infection is responsible for the occurrence of laryngitis, treatment with appropriate antibiotics, and corticosteroids are prescribed to reduce inflammation.

In some cases, antihistamines and corticosteroids are indicated (cortisone used locally in the form of spray, or sometimes by the general form of tablets). Treatment consists of surgical excision (removal) highlighted lesions after histological examination (microscopic observation) of the samples.

The best way to prevent laryngitis is to avoid irritating substances and overwork your voice. On the other hand, a highly effective method of treating an acute or chronic laryngitis is quitting smoking.
