Ectopic pregnancy - ectopic - Causes

Often, because of ectopic pregnancy remains unknown. In contrast, known factors, which may explain the increased number of ectopic pregnancy:

- Sexually transmitted diseases: salpingitis increases five times the risk of ectopic pregnancy by suppressing the cilia which normally facilitates the movement of ovum in the fallopian tube. Chlamydia and Gonococcal those have become more frequent.
- Over 50% of women with ectopic pregnancy (SEU) have a history of inflammation orinfection of the uterus, fallopian tubes or ovaries (pelvic inflammatory disease).
- Using an intrauterine device (IUD or coil). Despite its eficicacitatii as a method of contraception, the IUD increases the risk of ectopic pregnancy for 3 or 4 times. Whenthe IUD containing progesterone increases the risk of 6 or 7 times. By removing the IUD, the risk of ectopic pregnancy is decreased. In terms of the correct use of the IUD,pregnancy occurs rarely. If they place a burden, the probability that it be located outside the uterine cavity (ectopic) is very high.
- Age mother
- Smoking is a risk factor for ectopic pregnancy. It seems that one in five ectopic pregnancy is directly related to tobacco consumption.
- in vitro fertilization - increases the risk of ectopic pregnancy.
- Endometriosis - condition characterized by the presence of endometrial-like tissueoutside its normal location.
- Surgery in the abdominal region - fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus, stomach and lowerintestine.
- A form of tubal abnormality
- Drugs that stimulate ovulation
- A history of ectopic pregnancy. After an antecedent risk of subsequent ectopic pregnancy is 10%. After two record, the risk reaches 50%.
