Ectopic pregnancy - ectopic - Treatment

An ectopic pregnancy may regress spontaneously, but must be closely supervisedbecause of risk of rupture of fallopian tube. If spontaneous regression occurs, theabnormal implantation of the embryo outside the uterus require surgical treatment.

Surgery may be radical (consisting of removal of tube) or conservative (fallopian tube iskept). Tube that was implanted embryo is preserved in young women who want new tasks. In contrast, when the fallopian tube is damaged, it practices a salpingectomy(removal of tube). To obtain a subsequent pregnancy, it is necessary that the otherfallopian tube to be healthy and permeable. Otherwise, she becomes sterile.

The surgery is performed under endoscopic control, which avoids large abdominalincisions. Instead, several small incisions are made in the abdominal cavity throughwhich instruments are placed under the control afforded by laparoscope (tube equippedwith an optical system that allows viewing of the abdominal cavity). Once the fallopian tube is opened through a small incision, the egg is sucked.

Another method of treatment is performed under ultrasound puncture. Involves performing a local injections of antimitotic drugs (which stop cell proliferation), ectopicpregnancy cells for destruction.

In case of serious bleeding, opening the abdomen is indicated. Intervention isnecessary in case of rupture of the tube or the creation of adhesions after a bloodeffusion. It is also practiced in case of abdominal or ovarian pregnancy.
