Osteopetroza - Treatment

Osteopetroza infant requires treatment due to adverse prognosisassociated.

Vitamin D seems to help stimulate osteoclast bone resorption and thus dormande. High doses of calcitriol and calcium intake is restricted, improved dramatically osteopetroza. Improvement is notsustained after treatment.

Interferon gamma therapy shows long-term benefits. Improveswhite cell function, decreased incidence of infection. The treatmentsignificantly reduced trabecular bone volume and the increase ofhematopoietic meduvei. Causes high hemoglobin, and plateletsurvival. Therapy in combination with calcitriol is superior.Erythropoietin is used to correct anemia.

Corticosteroids are used to stimulate bone resorption and treatanemia. prednisone is administered for a few years. Osteopetrozaadults do not require treatment, unless complications.
Marrow transplantation is a procedure that replaces the abnormalosteoclasts with normal cells. It is the only therapy that can curecomplications associated with hematopoietic and hemostasisosteopetroza. It is a risky procedure and requiresimmunosuppressive therapy after making a lifetime.
Surgical therapy is necessary due to fractures or aestheticreasons.
