Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction should not be confused with isolated oroccasional failures to obtain or maintain a penile erection. This isnot an illness or medical condition that warrant attention and beperceived as normal. The vast majority of men also face anepisode at a time of life.

We are talking about erectile dysfunction if recurrent or persistentdisability (lasting at least 3 months) to get an erection or to maintain it long enough to complete intercourse.

Erectile dysfunction affects 20% of men aged 50 -59 years andtheir number increases with age. However, erectile dysfunction isnot a normal part of aging. Approximately 50% of men over 65 years and 75% of men over 80 years is facing this problem. Inmost cases, the dysfunction does not occur suddenly, but graduallyinstalled.

A study on health status and habits of the subjects, was able toidentify several factors that increase the risk of erectile dysfunction. In most cases, these risk factors acting simultaneously.
