Vaginismus - Diagnosis

Diagnosis of female sexual dysfunction, and vaginismus among which is difficult to establish. This is due primarily to the reluctanceof women to a doctor for this problem.

Diagnosis is based on physical examination, personal history of the female and description of the problem. Thorough examinationof the patient is often performed under anesthesia. Duringgynecological examination, involuntary muscle spasm will confirm the diagnosis of vaginismus, and the doctor can rule out possiblephysical causes of the problem (malformation, infection, etc.).

The first criterion in the diagnosis of vaginismus is involuntaryspastic contraction of the muscles of the lower third of the vagina, recurrent or persistent. This response must be due topsychological factors, or combination of psychological andmedical factors to speak of vaginismus. Symptoms of physical illness or emotional train.
