The virus was genetically modified by researchers to replicate in cancer cells and remain as healthy cells. Modified virus would be broke once multiplied in cancer cells, causing tumor cell death. Also, this process will be issued a protein that will stimulate the immune system.

The research was conducted British Institute The Royal Marsden on 17 patients who were injected modified virus. The virus was inserted into the affected lymph nodes in four doses. The result proove that 14 patients of the 17 had tumors shrunk. Over 75% of patients no longer had any trace of cancer cells in lymph nodes after this treatment after being surgically removed.
Dr. Kevin Harrington, coordinator of the research doctor said that the results were positive and compared to existing methods of treatment, including chemotherapy. He believes that the study was conducted on a small number of people, so the results should be approached with an air of caution. Coordinator doctor says he wants to lead and other research in oncology, these invasive methods, with positive results.
