In pregnant women, changes in their breasts (congestion) but the labia minora are more important than usual. Also appeared uterine contractions during orgasm are important and may be associated with changes in fetal heart rate. Towards the end of gestation orgasm can lead even triggering labor. Phase resolution on the other hand is slower.

In the first trimester reduces sexual interest mainly because pregnant fears fetus is not harmed in any way.

In late pregnancy significantly decreased frequency of sexual relations mainly due to lower interest partner.

In postpartum sexual reactions occur more slowly and lessen sexual perceptions. Often women is taken for medical indications to delay resumption of sexual relations, thus masking the lack of interest.
