Why use mouthwash?

Why use mouthwash?

For mouthwash penetrate hard to reach areas and acts on the entire oral cavity. Used correctly, twice a day for 30 seconds, it kills most bacteria that form plaque and prevent its occurrence.

What is mouthwash?

Mouthwash is an antiseptic that prevents tooth decay, gingivitis and bad breath (halitosis) by removing plaque. Do not replace your toothbrush or floss but is also used in removing food debris from the mouth.
The notion of mouthwash appeared in China 5,000 years ago and was used against gingivitis. It became very popular during Greek and Roman. In 1800, the idea was taken up and Hebrew to get a mixture of grains and vegetables macerated and mixed with olive oil. In the 17th century, Anton van Leeuwenhoek, the famous biologist, discovered and realized that plaque mouthwash removes this. Chlorhexidine component that made this was discovered only in 1960 by Harald Loe, professor of Denmark.

Does mouthwash side effects?
Why use mouthwash?
Since the beginning mouthwash, there were products created anaerobic bacteria that cause excessive secretion of substances causing bad breath and a bad taste in the mouth.
Some researchers say that mouthwash containing alcohol may cause oral cancer. Thus, Professor Michael McCullough said the product should be taken off the market and some types of mouthwash have alcohol concentration of 26% and may thus lead to increased disease risk for oral cancer.
Australian researcher claims that mouthwash should be sold only by prescription, is contradicted by the British Dental Association says that the evidence is insufficient and that more research is needed. They do not believe, however, that mouthwash may harm consumers, but better.

And yet ....
Why use mouthwash?
Chronic diseases in the mouth are caused by lack of proper oral hygiene ritual. More than 400 species of bacteria in the mouth can not be removed simply by brushing and flossing. Thus, we need additional means for cleaning the entire oral cavity, not just teeth.
It should be noted however that mouthwash can do wonders. Not cure and does not prevent cavities if not completely rigorous process conducted brushing twice a day. Any type of mouthwash choose, natural or commercial, remember that its use must be accompanied by proper oral hygiene and visit your dentist every 6 months.
